Tori Amos Releases “Gasoline Girls” From Upcoming Album In Times of Dragons

ori Amos has released a new single, “Gasoline Girls,” continuing the narrative behind her upcoming album In Times of Dragons, out May 1.

The track follows earlier singles “Stronger Together” and “Shush,” and adds another layer to the album’s larger story. This project leans heavily into allegory, building a world shaped by control, escape, and the relationships that form in response to both.

“Gasoline Girls” marks a shift in that story. The central figure, a fictionalized version of Amos, is still trying to break away from a powerful and dangerous partner. This time, she encounters the Gasoline Girls, a motorcycle collective that changes the direction of her escape.

Within the album’s world, they represent something more than just help along the way. They signal the beginning of resistance. A move from running to standing together.

Amos describes the song as rooted in transformation.

“This is a metaphor for many different transformations – from a teenage girl becoming a woman, to shifts in gender identity or fundamental belief systems, to the life changes that come with pregnancy, motherhood and eventually menopause. The song explores the emotions that come with leaving one version of yourself behind and stepping into another.”

That idea carries through the full album. In Times of Dragons unfolds as a larger narrative, following a journey across the U.S. as the main character evolves into something capable of facing what’s pursuing her.

Across more than three decades, Amos has built a catalog that resists easy definition, earning nine Grammy nominations and selling over 12 million albums worldwide. This project continues that approach, using character and metaphor to reflect on the current moment.

The release of “Gasoline Girls” arrives just ahead of the album, and alongside plans for a major return to touring. Amos is set to begin her most extensive tour in over a decade, with dates across the U.S., the U.K., and Europe throughout 2026, including a stop at Royal Albert Hall.
