This marks Ali’s first release with COP International, home to artists such as The Cassandra Complex, Stabbing Westward, and Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. Synesthesia will be her sixth solo album and her second sung entirely in English. Like her 2019 record Phantoms, the album was written, performed, and produced by Ali herself.

The record draws on her experiences with synesthesia, the blending of senses that allows some people to see sounds or feel colors. She says the title track in particular captures the way sound, color, and texture merge in her perception. The album also includes two covers: Tim Buckley’s “Song to the Siren” and Natalie Merchant’s “This House Is On Fire.”

Ali explains that her music has always been tied to honesty of expression, shaped by her own life experiences with war, displacement, and politics. She sees art as inseparable from the realities of the world and describes her work as an invitation to step into a space where the senses converge and perception becomes fluid.

Across her career, Ali has earned JUNO nominations, a Hollywood Music in Media Award, and praise from outlets including Billboard, Echoes, and DJ Spooky. She has collaborated with artists such as Serj Tankian, Peter Murphy, and The Crystal Method, and her voice has appeared on numerous film, television, and video game soundtracks, including John Wick, Thor: The Dark World, The Matrix Revolutions, Fight Club, True Blood, Alias, and Uncharted 3.

“With each album, my aspiration is to refine the language of my expression and create music that transports,” Ali says. “I want to evoke both wonder and disorientation, offering glimpses of the extraordinary ways the world can be experienced when the senses converge.”

“To Pieces” is available now on all digital platforms. Synesthesia will be released digitally and on vinyl and CD on November 14, 2025.
