The book looks back at her life both inside and outside of the band, but it doesn’t stop at the expected highlights. Wiedlin has said the memoir covers a wide range of personal experiences, including her struggles with mental health, relationships, and the different paths she’s taken over the years. It also touches on parts of her life that are less often discussed publicly, including her work in animal rescue and her experiences within BDSM communities.

Wiedlin rose to prominence as a guitarist and songwriter for the Go-Go’s, the first all-woman rock band to write their own material, play their own instruments, and reach number one on the Billboard charts. Songs like “Our Lips Are Sealed” helped define that era and pushed the band into mainstream success.

The memoir follows that rise, along with what came after. It looks at the pressures of fame, the internal strain within the band, and how things eventually unraveled. From there, it moves into her life beyond the spotlight, including personal loss, reinvention, and the different identities she’s taken on over time.

She also shares how she taught herself music early on, and how her career has expanded beyond the Go-Go’s through solo work and other projects.

Alongside the book, Wiedlin is also planning to release a new record later this year titled I PROTEST!, which will focus on politically driven material.

TMI: Memoirs of a Go-Go is positioned as a full account of her life rather than a narrow look at one chapter, pulling together the different parts of her story into a single narrative.
