essie James Decker and Joss Stone have joined forces for the first time on “I Never Miss Him Anymore,” a soulful new duet out now through Big Yellow Dog Music. Written by Johan Fransson, Audra Mae, and Caroline Watkins, the ballad blends Decker’s country-pop sound with Stone’s powerhouse soul, creating a raw story of heartbreak, resilience, and letting go. Fans can also watch the official video, released alongside the track.
For Decker, the collaboration is a dream realized. She remembers watching Stone perform barefoot at the Grammys and telling herself she wanted to sing with her someday. Stone recalled first meeting Decker on a plane and being struck by her warmth before later discovering her voice. Both describe the project as proof that timing and connection can turn into something magical.
Decker has built a career that spans music, television, and business, with more than 250 million streams, a Billboard-topping album, and recent collaborations with Dolly Parton, Diane Warren, and Maddie & Tae. She will also appear in the upcoming holiday film The Christmas Ring and on FOX’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
Stone brings more than two decades of experience to the duet. Since her debut at 16, she has released nine studio albums, sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and collaborated with icons including James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Mick Jagger. She recently wrapped her “20 Years of Soul” anniversary tour, released her first live album, and co-headlined a tour with Melissa Etheridge. Stone is also preparing new music following her latest single “No Thankyou” and co-hosts the podcast A Cuppa Love.
Together, the two artists channel their different backgrounds into a song that bridges genres while spotlighting their shared strength and soul.
