olly Johnson has released her new EP Long Time Running, a three-song project that brings her together with a mix of longtime collaborators and newer voices.
The release includes “Talk To Me,” a collaboration with Haviah Mighty that shifts Johnson into a different space. The track is built as a back-and-forth between the two, letting their styles contrast while still working toward the same idea. Johnson has said the song came from a desire to actually listen to younger perspectives rather than talk over them.
The EP also features a reworking of Long Time Running, originally by The Tragically Hip, recorded here with Jim Cuddyof Blue Rodeo. Instead of trying to recreate the original, this version pulls it back, focusing more on tone and restraint.
The third track, “Slipped Away,” is an original song written with Davide Di Renzo. It stays closer to Johnson’s core sound, reflecting on memory and the kind of questions that don’t fully resolve over time.
Across the EP, she continues working with musicians who have been part of her process for years, including Di Renzo, Mike Downes, and Robi Botos. That continuity keeps the project grounded even as it reaches into new territory.
Long Time Running is out now via Universal Music Canada, with more music expected to follow.
