if Naked is set to headline a special night at the Departure Festival on May 9 at Paradise Theatre, combining a film screening, live performance, and Q&A into one event.

The evening centers around the Toronto premiere of BIF NAKED, a documentary directed by Pollyanna Hardwicke-Brown. The film traces her life and career, pulling from archival footage, interviews, and live moments to map out how she went from the early punk scene to a much wider stage.

It doesn’t stay surface-level. The documentary gets into the harder parts of her story too, including her health battles and the realities of working in a space that wasn’t built for someone like her. What comes through is the throughline she’s always had, which is not backing down or smoothing things over to make them easier to digest.

After the screening, she’ll take the stage for an acoustic set, stripping things back and playing songs in a more direct way. The night closes with a Q&A, which, if you know anything about her, probably won’t be filtered or overly polished.

This isn’t a one-off format either. The film has already been traveling across Canada with similar events, pairing screenings with live performances and conversations. It’s less about presenting the documentary on its own and more about creating a full evening around it.

For this stop, the Departure Festival setting makes sense. It’s a space that pulls together different parts of the industry, and this event sits right in the middle of that, film, music, and the story behind both.

The Toronto date brings all of that into one room, with Bif Naked present for all of it, not just on screen but in front of the audience.
