ucy Dacus has released a new song, “Planting Tomatoes,” along with a lyric video filmed in Tokyo.
The track first appeared as a limited Record Store Day 7-inch release before being made more widely available. It centers on a specific kind of realization, the moment you notice time passing in a way you can’t ignore, and try to stay present anyway.
“Planting Tomatoes” continues the thread of her recent work, keeping things grounded in observation and reflection without overcomplicating it. The song sits quietly in that space, focusing on small details rather than building toward anything dramatic.
The release comes alongside a growing list of live dates across North America. Among them are two orchestral shows, one with the Chicago Philharmonic at Millennium Park and another with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at Hollywood Bowl, where she’ll perform with arrangements built around her existing catalog, including material from Forever Is A Feeling.
She’ll also be playing a series of headline shows throughout the summer, along with festival appearances like Outside Lands and Kilby Block Party. These dates mark her largest tour so far, continuing to expand her audience while keeping the focus on the writing itself.
For each headline show, she’s continuing her partnership with The Ally Coalition, with a portion of ticket sales going toward organizations supporting queer and trans youth.
With “Planting Tomatoes,” Dacus keeps things understated, letting the song speak without pushing it beyond what it needs to be.
