Angelfish to reunite for benefit show supporting Palestinian children

S

hirley Manson’s early band Angelfish is reuniting for a special benefit show on January 30 at The Liquid Room in Edinburgh. All proceeds will support humanitarian aid charities for Palestinian children. It marks one of only a few performances the band has played since they disbanded. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 24 at 10 a.m.

For these shows, Manson will be joined by three of her former Angelfish bandmembers: Martin Metcalfe on guitar, Derek Kelly on drums, and Fin Wilson on bass, who now perform together as The Filthy Tongues.

The reunion comes at a time when Manson has been using her own platforms to speak directly about the crisis in Palestine. Through a series of posts, she has called attention to ongoing violence, human rights violations, and the lack of international intervention.

The reunion comes at a time when Manson has been using her own platforms to speak directly about the crisis in Palestine. Through a series of posts, she has called attention to ongoing violence, human rights violations, and the lack of international intervention.

In one post she wrote, “Still occupying, oppressing, killing, starving, wounding and terrorising Palestinians. Atrocity after atrocity. For two whole years with full impunity.” She described witnessing footage of brutality against civilians and added, “The Palestinian people deserve to live. They have been abused for so long. It is all so wrong and heart shattering.”

In another statement she questioned why the world has not responded with greater urgency. “What I would like to know is why I continue to see murdered Palestinian babies on my feed,” she wrote. “And why so many people seem incapable of accepting that you can want liberation and safety for Palestinians whilst also wishing safety and security for Israelis.” She ended with a plea: “Free Palestine. Make this horror stop.”

Angelfish’s return is grounded in that same sense of witness and responsibility, using the stage to direct help where it is urgently needed. The upcoming show offers fans a rare chance to see the band together again while supporting humanitarian efforts for children affected by the ongoing crisis

Update, October 27: A second show on January 31 was added after the initial announcement, and both dates at The Liquid Room have now sold out. The response reflects both the rarity of the reunion and the strong support behind the benefit effort.
