Cat Power celebrates 20 years of The Greatest with new EP and anniversary tour

C

at Power will celebrate the twentieth anniversary of her 2006 album The Greatest with a new three-song EP titled Redux and a world tour beginning in early 2026.

Set for release on January 23, Redux returns to the sound and spirit of one of Chan Marshall’s most defining records. The EP was recorded at Church House Studios in Austin with Grammy-winning engineer Stuart Sikes, who also worked on the original album. The sessions reunited her with the Dirty Delta Blues band: Judah Bauer, Gregg Foreman, Erik Paparozzi, and Jim White.

The collection includes a newly finished version of James Brown’s “Try Me,” which Marshall began during the original Greatest sessions but never completed. It also features a cover of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” recorded in memory of Teenie Hodges of the Memphis Rhythm Band, who played on The Greatest and remained one of her closest collaborators until his passing in 2014. The final track, a reimagined take on “Could We,” captures the live arrangement performed on the original Greatest tour.

Cat Power will perform The Greatest in its entirety during a 2026 anniversary tour that begins February 12 in Houston and continues across North America through March before heading to Europe and the United Kingdom in October. The tour concludes in Dublin on November 7.

Presales begin November 5 and 6, with general tickets available November 7 at 10 a.m. local time through catpowermusic.com.

Two decades after its release, The Greatest remains one of Cat Power’s most emotionally resonant works. With Redux and this tour, Marshall revisits that chapter from a place of reflection, offering both a tribute to her past and a reminder of how timeless her music still feels.
