arbage and Skunk Anansie will join forces for a run of UK shows next summer, uniting two of alternative rock’s most enduring names for a limited six-date tour.
The series begins June 16 at The Piece Hall in Halifax and continues through Delamere Forest, Dreamland in Margate, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Cardiff Castle, and Southampton’s Guildhall Square. Each night will see the two bands alternate closing sets, giving audiences a different experience from show to show.
Skunk Anansie emerged from London’s 1990s rock scene with a sound that blended punk grit, funk rhythm, and emotional intensity. Led by Skin, the band challenged convention from the start, tackling themes of race, gender, and power while reshaping what British rock could look and sound like. Their songs Weak and Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good) remain staples, and their latest album The Painful Truth continues that boldness with a modern edge.
Garbage bring their own legacy of defiance and self-awareness. Fronted by Shirley Manson, they rose to prominence with a dark, melodic sound that mixed rock, pop, and electronics in sharp contrast to the era’s trends. From their 1995 debut to more recent releases, the band’s music has always paired emotional honesty with commentary on image, identity, and survival in a changing world.
Both front women have spent decades using their voices for more than performance. They’ve spoken openly about issues that extend beyond the stage, inspiring audiences not to back down but to speak up. This tour unites two acts that helped define alternative rock’s rebellious heart and continue to live by it.
