uth B. has released her new single “Storm,” marking her first partnership with ALTER Music and Artist Theory. Produced by six-time Grammy winner Cole M.G.N., the song opens a new chapter for the Ethiopian Canadian singer-songwriter and pianist, reflecting themes of growth, loss, and self-discovery.
“Storm” began years ago as a short piece Ruth B. shared on Vine. It has since evolved into a full song that bridges her early viral beginnings with her current work. Known for hits like “Lost Boy,” “Dandelions,” and the Rod Wave–sampled “Mixed Signals,” she continues to merge vulnerability and strength in her writing.
“I started this song as a young adult just trying to make sense of my feelings, and I finished it as a woman who’s lived through them,” Ruth B. said. “It’s like a conversation between who I was and who I’ve become.”
The new single arrives with a video directed by New York filmmaker Sara Thea. The visual reflects the song’s emotional landscape, showing the quiet moment between heartbreak and renewal.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Canada, to Ethiopian parents, Ruth B. began writing songs as a teenager, using her piano as both instrument and diary. She rose to prominence through Vine before releasing her Platinum debut album Safe Haven and 2021’s Moments in Between. Her work has since earned multi-platinum certifications across more than fifteen countries and over 8.6 billion streams worldwide.
Ruth B. has been recognized with a Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year and continues to connect with listeners through her mix of pop, soul, and cinematic minimalism. More music is expected in 2026.
